The high-tech 24/7 beach webcam with an integrated Davis weather station has finally been installed down on the 90 Mile Beach at Loch Sport. This system will provide quality live vison of the ocean conditions & accurate local weather monitoring & reporting. This will be a valuable resource for the benefit of all recreational fishermen.
Association members located a beach mat that was purchased by Community effort in 2014 & had been in storage ever since. They have now installed it at the Stockyard Hill access to the 90 Mile Beach & it has been very gratifying to see the significant number of people who are now able to get down onto the beach proper, including some wheelchair bound fishermen.
Members recently cleared over 5 tonne of sand off the access pathway at Stockyard Hill enabling many more people to make their way down to the beach, including a gentleman who said it was the first time in many years that he had been able to take a close-up view of the ocean. We have also extended the retaining walls further down the sides of the path to prevent wind-blown sand from encroaching onto the path, with special thanks to Gippsland Treated Pine (Morwell) who donated all of the required timber. We are very grateful for their support.
